"Tsunami Relief Discussion" is a bi-lingual online chat application for better communication among the Tamils who wants to help tsunami victims.

Chat Alert is a helper application (Windows only) that can be run along with the chat application to alert when some one enters or leaves the chat room, It also saves the conversation during your presence to a file in the same directory as the executable in the following pattern YYYY_MM_DD_chat.htm

It does not require any password to login, simply type in your name. Use F2 to choose between English and Tamil.

What do I need to run this chat application in my computer?
Any web browser with the latest Flash Player installed. If you are on Windows you may download the Chat Alert as well.

Do I need any Tamil font or Tamil software to be installed to use this chat application?
No, It does not need any.

What is the encoding used for Tamil?
It is uses Tscii encoding. You may copy paste the tscii text directly on to the chat window.

My Favorite Keyboard Layout is missing in this Chat Application, how do I type?
This Chat Application has in built support only for Roman, and TamilNet 99. In order to use other Keyboards, switch to English in Chat application and use tools like eKallapai to type in Tscii.

I'm able to open the chat window but it does not take me anywhere, what should I do?
There is a connection indicator light in the upper right corner, if it is grey you may be behind a firewall.

Tell me what port this chat application is using so that I can open that port in my firewall?
By default it uses port 1935. When access is denied it tries to run using port 80 using HTTP tunnel.

How do I type multi line text in a single message?
Press SHIFT key while Pressing ENTER.

I'm too Lazy to retype, is there any way I can get previously typed text?
It stored last 20 messages for re-sending, use CTRL+UP and CTRL+DOWN to navigate.
